Can You Have Ice Cream On Keto?

You should not eat regular ice cream on a keto diet but this article will reveal to you that there are other healthier ways to make and take ice cream and still maintain your body size and shape.

Making the low churn keto ice cream at home is just the best way to kill that urge and kill it completely.

The keto ice cream is also super low in carbs with only 3 grams net carbs per serving.

How To Make Sugar Free Ice Cream

Making the keto dessert using the sugar free ice cream recipe may take a little more time than normal if you really want to get the best result. Yes! You need to take your time and follow all the steps with precision.

The first step is to make a sugar free sweetened condensed milk. This happens to be the lengthiest part of this activity apart from the freezing. You will have to melt butter in a large saucepan then you add heavy cream and powdered sweetener.

Next up, boil at low heat for a long time to reduce. This reducing process only makes the liquid to evaporate and allow the mixture to thicken better which will eventually form the condensed milk. The large pan will help the surface area to be large as well.

The next step is to whisk the milk in MCT oil or MCT oil powder and vanilla bean seeds if that is what you will be using. If you are not using an ice cream maker to make the keto vanilla ice cream then you need to use this MCT oil. This actually helps the texture of the ice cream.

The MCT oil powder is gentler than the oil. If your body is prone to being sensitive then you can help yourself to the oil instead.

After this, whisk the leftover cream. The last thing is to make the sugar free ice cream freeze!

Making Low Carb Ice Cream With An Ice Cream Maker

Using an Ice cream maker will ease the whole process. You transfer the ice cream mixture to the ice cream maker and let it churn, the process takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

The amount of time will largely depend on the kind of machine that is being used. You won’t need MCT oil or oil powder if you are using an ice cream machine.

There are a lot of flavors that can be easily done this way. There is the keto vanilla ice cream, keto coconut ice cream, the keto chocolate ice cream recipe and many more.

Delicious, mouth-watering and brain freezing sugar free ice cream recipe for all.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups heavy cream.

  • ⅓  cup powdered allulose.

  • 3 tablespoons of butter.

  • 1 medium vanilla bean.

  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.

  • ¼ cup MCT oil (or MCT oil powder).

Directions

  • Making No Churn Keto Ice cream
  • Melt butter in a saucepan. Add about 2 cups of heavy cream, also add powdered sweetener.
  • Allow boiling for a while, reduce to simmer and keep it that way for about 40 minutes. Stir at intervals until you get a thick mixture and the overall volume is reduced by half.
  • Pour the mixture into a bowl and leave it to cool (room temperature).
  • While stirring, add the seeds from the vanilla bean and also the vanilla extract.
  • Whisk in the MCT oil powder and then the remaining cup of heavy cream.
  • Whisk until smooth.
  • Making with an Ice Cream Maker
  • Put the mixture into the ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions on churning. Churn until the ice cream is all soft and creamy.
  • Freeze for about 2-5 hours then serve when it’s firm.
  • Making Without An Ice Cream Maker
  • Get a 9×5 loaf pan, pour in the ice cream mixture in it. Use a spatula to smoothen the top. Using parchment paper, line the top of the pan so crystals don’t form.
  • Place in a freezer for about 5-6 hours until it becomes firm. You should stir the ice cream during the freezing process for every 30 minutes in the first 2 hours and every 60 minutes for the remaining hours.
  • Allow for about 10-20 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Low carb ice cream doesn’t harden in the freezer if left there for too long, using MCT oil or oil powder will help.
