I was on a camping trip with my family and my friends family, we brought lots of canned food and other food items alone. It was really cool and all, until one day, my friend Sarah said she wants to make a meal for us.
Everyone was happy, “cooked food finally!” the children yelled.
After making what she called “Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls”, I was a bit skeptical at first, my mind was screaming “don’t eat it, Carla”. I’m glad I didn’t listen to that voice in my head.
I decided to have a bite and then ladies and gentlemen, It was like nothing I have ever tasted before, from the marinara sauce to the garlic, everything was just right.
You too can have a taste of these amazing low carb cabbage rolls and get to feel what I felt back in the day.

Here’s the making process of what my husband calls “the cabbage roll casserole”. You need to pay attention to every single detail hereafter if you want to get a perfect unstuffed cabbage casserole at the end.
On a normal note, everyone would think we are going to wrap cabbage leaves around a filling and then cook and blah blah blah. That’s not going to happen. Instead, I am going to throw in already chopped cabbage inside a cooking pot with the filling too and let it all canoodle together.
For starters, you need to get some ground beef and brown it up until it seems like a partially browned but fully crumbled beef. Next up, you’ll need to throw in some minced garlic and onion (diced). Allow your veggies to soften up a little bit, after they have, get a bit of water and some marinara sauce. Make sure the sauce you are getting is relatively low in carbs, that’s the main aim remember?
For the next phase, you’ll need to mess with a nice looking cabbage, chop it up to bits and then add to your pot. Allow the cabbage to cook properly for about 30 minutes.
And voila! Your deconstructed cabbage rolls are ready for intense consumption.
Is This Cabbage Recipe Kid-Friendly?
Yes, it is. Since I chose the cooking path, I have seen lots of keto cabbage recipes and about 99% of them can be eaten by kids with no health challenge what so ever. What am I saying? Unless your kid is allergic to cabbage or beef, he or she should have no issue with this keto cabbage recipe.
What To Serve Along Side?
CHICKEN! CHICKEN! CHICKEN! Now, I know you would say “but there’s beef already”. There’s just something about have well seasoned low carb drumsticks by the side. OMG! How soothing!
But seriously, there’s no harm in having chicken and beef right? No!
Imagine devouring this amazing cabbage recipe and then having a final showdown with the “chicken”. Alright, I’m done! I think I’m hungry right now.
Final Words
The making of this special unstuffed cabbage rolls is not difficult in any way, in fact, if your kid is mature enough, he or she would be able to make this. Although it is not a good idea to allow kids to have their way with fire because things could get real messy afterward.
