The Art Of Baking Hard Boiled Eggs In An Oven
While I was writing this section, my friend walked in and she was in shock, she yelled: “bake eggs in an oven?”.
If you are skeptical about this, don’t be! It is very possible to bake eggs in an oven. Baking hard-boiled eggs in an oven is something that people have been doing for a long time. When I first heard it, I was shocked at first, then I tried it and to my greatest surprise, it worked!
Now, I know you’d also wonder, why would someone even want to go through the hassle of baking eggs. The answer is simple. The normal stovetop method actually requires a lot of attention so you don’t end up getting an under or overcooked egg. But with an oven, you can easily set the timer and it will shut down when the time has elapsed.
How To Bake Hard-Boiled Eggs
Basically, we are going to arrive at hard-boiled eggs in a muffin tin at the very end. Brace yourselves.
Are you ready? Let’s ride.
The first thing to do is to preheat your oven to about 325 ℉, and then you need to get about 12 eggs and place them in a muffin tin. Then you need to bake the eggs for about 20-30 minutes. After the baking process is complete and the oven is turned off automatically, remove the eggs and place them in freezing water for about 10-12 minutes.
And voila! You just made yourself some nice baked eggs in the shell. Crack em’ open and enjoy.
Time Taken To Cook Eggs In An Oven
It basically depends on how you want your eggs to come out. Somedays I like my eggs hard-boiled, and other days I like em soft boiled, that way I get to enjoy the yolk better. OMG! Did I mention that the egg yolk is my favorite part of an egg? Especially when it’s a bit soft and hot. Oh my!
Now, It doesn’t matter the number of eggs you put inside the oven. The time taken to boil one egg will be the same time taken to boil 12 or 17 eggs.
If you want a very soft boiled egg with the yolk dancing and prancing, you’d want to leave the eggs in the oven for about 20 minutes. If you want very hard-boiled eggs, you can leave the eggs in the oven for 30 minutes to get that.
Can I Peel Eggs Boiled In An Oven?
It is practically the same thing with normal boiled eggs. I know a lot of people tend to get scared and concerned if the egg will peel. But yes, the egg does peel. However, if you bake eggs for just 20 minutes, you would want to use a spoon to try and peel it off. That way, it is easier for you.
If you have a firm hard-boiled egg that is ready to be peeled, here is what to do to have a perfectly peeled egg.
- After baking the egg in an oven, remove it and add it to freezing water, leave it there for about 10 minutes.
- Take it off, use a strong spoon to crack the egg and then carefully remove the shell of the egg.
